The Labor candidates for the City of Ryde’s Central Ward have been selected to run in the Local Government elections in December this year.
Clr Bernard Purcell is leading a dynamic and representative team with Katie O’Reilly in second spot, Dr Francisco Javier Valencia Cepeda in third spot and former Inner West Councillor Lyndal Howison in fourth spot.
As a group, they have a wealth of experience in many fields and are proven local representatives already. They have all played a significant role in their local communities and all bring special talents to the team.
Katie O’Reilly, running for Local Government the first time, is the future of politics in Ryde – having grown up in West Ryde and lived here all her life. A young and talented candidate, Katie has always been active in the community and wishes to do more for Ryde as a Councillor.
Their platform into this election is to continue the great work Council has done over the last 4 years. The Central Ward team will to maintain the push for responsible development, increase affordable housing, expand public amenity and champion environmental conservation.
I am thrilled to have a strong and capable team running for Central Ward in this year’s Local elections. Our Labor traditions of equity and equality will be on offer to the citizens of Ryde.
We have a strong team that represents the breadth of residents in Central Ward. Mrs O’Reilly running in second position, particularly, is a terrific opportunity for younger female residents to have a champion in Council.
